HOSPITALITY AND DIVERSITY – TWIN SPIRITS
I recently had a fantastic family holiday in Goa in India at the Heritage Village Club in November. Here are the reasons why:
- All the staff were positive, smiling and friendly at all times – from the room cleaner, to the chef and General Manager.
- The accommodation was clean and tidy to a very high standard.
- The food was unbelievable – very fresh and diverse with a wide range of choices and cuisine from different parts of the world. Also it was 80% vegetarian, making it accessible to all. The recipes seemed to be health conscious and tasty at the same time, a rare feat.
- Despite the large size of the hotel, there was great attention to personal detail and service. My father had a very restricted Jain diet, but the chef personally came to see us and made for him whatever he preferred. In the West, I have often found dietary restrictions to be seen as a fuss and a problem for the host. Here, it was seen as an opportunity to make new recipes and food.
- My elderly father is disabled, but they made a special effort to accommodate him and provide him with access and support.
We often talk in the world today about respect, and all of us love to be respected. However giving respect with love and unconditional warmth is much harder, and it was a joy to see this. A lot of the staff and waiters were very young, and their positivity gave me great hope for the future.

Hospitality is a unique skill and culture that lies at the heart of respect. In India, there is a motto ‘Atithi Devo Bhavah’ – a guest is like a God. There is a big national campaign around it which you can view here. It is fronted by the famous film actor Amir Khan. I saw this motto in living action in the 21st century and this is a great statement of hope for the future of India.
Good Hospitality requires us to go beyond our skin and feel the pain and discomforts of another, and not be afraid to sacrifice our time and skills to satisfy our visitors. It is not just about food or hotels, but a spirit and a value from which we could all benefit hugely. Good hospitality leads to good relationships – and where will these take us? At a time when the whole world is desperately talking about sustainability, we need to understand that good relationships lie at the core of sustainability, and must never forget the huge power and importance of hospitality.

Having had an extended stay with my partner.. I am taking this oppertunity to thank your staff from anne and the front desk team to the waiters /clint/gibert/lesly/xavier/oshif/during a difficult time due to the volcanic situation your staff were fantastic.. we cannot express enough our gratitude and thanks to your team with a special thanks to anne, reception & also the customer services manager and last but not least nancy who made dining an absolute pleasure. again to all your staff a big thank you..

Just wanted to share a comment i didnt get to leave whilst on my stay. Overall I really enjoyed my stay at your hotel, and was very pleased with the service from all the staff. Id particularly like to thank waiter Gilbert for being extremely smiley, polite, cheerful and kind. And thank you for my milky tea! :-)

I would like to put on record our sincere gratitude for the super excellent services rendered by all staff of your resort during our visit to your resort from 2nd Oct 2009 to 5th Oct 2009.
The food was excellent and the room accommodation was very comfortable. The service at the bar and the entertainment needs special appreciation.
Considering the fact that we were a group of 104 persons it was amazing that each individuals requirement was met with meticulously which really needs to be specially appreciated. The courtesy shown by all the staff shows excellent training imparted by your resort.
Every member of our group has asked me to convey their special appreciation and thanks for making their stay a memorable one. Looking forward to the next visit, we have all taken a pledge that when we visit Goa it will be non other than “Holiday Village Resort”.

Your hotel is the best we have stayed in, from the moment we entered the foyer we were made to feel very welcome. We would like to say thank you to all staff from the pot boys to the GM. The 2 guest relations ladies were so friendly and helpful, the reception staff, bell boys and of course Mr Sanjay were fantastic, James who did a wonderful job running the restaurants and bars, the head chef and Ramesh whose food was always delicious and well presented, the beautifully laid out and maintained gardens the wonderful ladies who kept them so tidy and neat and were always smiling. We found the grand club room to be clean tidy and well maintained

I enjoyed my stay at the Heritage Village in Goa immensely the first time I stayed there a few months ago.
I returned to Goa with my family and we had a short break between November 12 & November 16, 2009.
This time I was even more pleased.
Mr. Guitry – G.M and his young team looked after my family and I very well.
I was also very impressed with the way that other guests were treated with no discrimination whatsoever.

I would like to pass on sincere thanks from both my son and his wife for the wonderful time they had at the Heritage Village resort. They returned from their Honeymoon yesterday and RAVED ABOUT YOUR RESORT. I have worded their comments below.
They said it was It was elegant yet informal, with a lively warm homely atmosphere, an oasis of peace, harmonised by the tranquil atmosphere and the turquoise waters of the sea. The entertainment was very good the food and facilities offered were exceptional and all of the staff who attended to them were cheerful, courteous and always happy to help. The excellence in the service they provided was seamless.
Please pass on our thanks ( from my son, his wife and me) to all concerned and as a General manager of this Beautiful resort, you need to give yourself a big pat on the back.
We have and will recommend The Heritage resort to our staff and passengers at BA.

Enjoyed our Stay at the resort. It was a pleasure for us to be here,We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. The Staff is extremely courteous and take pride in their profession. The stay was beyond Expectations.

Heritage Village Club is truly a Paradise in Goa. The food and service is excellent. The staff was extremely courteous, responsive and ever smiling, The best Part was the entertainment organized by the Animations department. Definitely worth visiting again
